Confident and courageous, Sorina Cojocaru practises both criminal and regulatory law and has successfully defended numerous clients in complex and serious matters.
Sorina appears in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice and is well-versed in challenging search warrants and arguing against Charter violations.
In 2016 Sorina graduated with a dual law degree from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, having studied Canadian and American law simultaneously. Prior to that, she graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in Economics in 2012.
During law school, Sorina was a judicial student clerk at the Ontario Court of Justice – Criminal Division in Windsor and worked with Pro Bono Students Canada. Sorina was also an intern at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office.
Sorina completed her articles and continued working with a prominent Toronto criminal defence lawyer, where she worked on multiple complex files. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2017, Sorina joined Roots of Law in May 2018.
In addition to working with clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, Sorina’s regulatory law practice has included advocating for her clients against The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, and The College of Physicians and Surgeons.
When she is not defending her client’s Charter rights, Sorina enjoys spending time with her family and going on long hikes with her overly-excited dog.
Sorina is fluent in Romanian.
